The easiest way to get a no-experience required taste of glassmaking is to attend a Special Session; you'll learn your way around the Studio and the equipment while making a souvenir object. Our most popular no-experience necessary workshop is our weekend Beginner Glass Survey, where you can sample four different glass art techniques.
Glassblowing
For an introductory teaser, look under Special Sessions for Champagne Paperweight. From there you can consider our two-night class, Introduction to Glassblowing, or one of our weekend Hot Glass Sculpting workshops. The next steps from there are three successive levels of Amorphous Solid Workshops. View all.
Flameworking
For an introductory teaser, try a Special Session for Beaded Jewelry. Our Introduction to Flameworking is offered on one weekend day or consecutive Wednesday nights, and from there you can work your way up to weekend workshops such as Sculpting on the Torch or Blowing on the Torch. View all.
Kilnworking
This includes glass fusing, melting flat glass in a kiln to make plates or platters, and kilncasting, where glass is melted into molds in a kiln. Start with a special session, such as fused glass tiles, and work your way up to a one-day fuse or weekend workshop. See all.
Stained Glass
A category all to itself, and a great way to make new friends while producing your very own work of art. Held on the fourth Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. More.
